2nd in series for new VW Microbus

I came up with this design after having seen some of the work attempted by VW on the first Microbus that Ben Pon had sketched. I was intrigued by the model they made that was very streamlined. This brought me to study some work by Buckminster Fuller and his Dymaxion car. This design is essentially a cross between the two, incorporating some new and old, yet very classic, design styles and technologies. This can be seen in the gull-wing doors, which are hinged along the beltline, allowing them to fold. This provides headroom, some cover from rain when entering or exiting the vehicle,and the ability to open the doors in normal to semi-tight parking spaces. The design also incorporates the classic microbus look, along with semaphore turn indicators, quartz driving lamps, and the classic dual windshield. Also, not seen, the bus would incorporate "wind" rain wipers- forced air that would keep the window clear during wet weather driving.

Ace Cafe - London

Basically it's one evening a month for club members and other vw enthusiasts to meet up in nice surroundings, nice facility and in a very assessable location, ( the north circular road, London) and do what we do. The Ace Cafe have a large car park with a restaurant (with licence) etc. so you can actually look at all the vehicles etc. in comfort. They already do a fiat 500 night, British bike night, 50's American classic etc. so it's nothing new for them.

I found this recent find on a road trip to the East Side of the U.S.A, it is a original paint mouse grey 1963 23 window deluxe ,check out those wide Bias Plys, I think I will leave them on,Oh cool Dinosaur too!

My daughter found this in her high school history book. Note 2nd bus in back ground. Caption reads�.. "This young woman prepares to enter her elaborately decorated van in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. Such vans were commonplace modes of transportation for members of the counterculture in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Inset, shoppers view wares in the window of a counterculture store in San Francisco."
