Pix of bus-like vehicles. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and man of VW's period competitors tried to emulate their sucess with the transporter. Even Chrysler is a modern day hanger-on, claiming to have invented the minivan (VW 1949), and claiming to have invented the double-door (VW 1953).

| 09/02/02 | Hartmut Lanzer | I am a member of the Volunteer Firebrigade in Bayreuth, Germany. We have a Ford FK 1000 like shown in the picture still in use. It was built in 1965 and has run about 7000 km! It carries a portable pump with a VW-Boxer-engine and equipment. It will be in use for some more years and end in the local Firebrigademuseum. |

| 06/19/02 | Humberto | This kind of vehicles are very common in Latin America. That picture correspond to a bus made using a Brazilian VW Truck chassis (yes TRUCK) and according to the licence plate the picture was take in PERU.
In Chile we have VW Trucks and VW Mini Buses like that for public transportation. Usually the body is local made. |
