I got this '62 Kombi for free after stopping in every other day asking about it for weeks. Before this it was painted in green and black cammo. On the tow home I had to lean out the window to steer since the windshields were painted black. You should have seen the looks on my neighbors faces when I got it home! It donated its running gear so that my wife and I could make a cross-country trip. I put a set of Porsche Fuchs on it and then gave it a fellow Bus nut. Note the Kewl Rossi headlight rings and sano shaved cargo door handles!

I'm working on a website link to the entire article. Amazing shots of the destruction of an OG logo panel. This article and several others were the inspiration for my old "Rusty VanBondo" cartoons. I oughta get off my ass and do some fresh ones...

volvo conversion pics

These are pictures of my current project, a 1980 volvo 2.3L into a 1966 standard 7 passenger bus. The adaption was made using a kennedy adapter plate, and a lot of work. The transmission has been re-geared with a 3.87 R&p as well as welded 3rd and 4th. I am running the exhaust forward with a catalytic converter, for the trees, and a quiet muffler. My radiator is mounted underneath the car, behind the front end with a scoop and electric fan. The clearance, as of now, is 6 inches. Currently I am setting up the cooling system and working on other various problems associated with a water-cooled conversion. Reasone for my conversion include: Better fuel economy, more efficiancy, more power, cleaner air. Prior to this bus I had a 63' westfalia, and unfortunately sold it, but this was do to the reasons mentioned. Now I will have the comforts of a bus, and the reliability, maintenance of a volvo.

It's nice to have it driving... It rides great.. Air suspension is the ONLY way to lower a bus..and it still ride great...

06/24/02		I have heard that the later model buses accept the air bags alot better than the earlier buses. And look better lowered
