This is one of the very first busses, a 1949 panel. Note the different bumpers, vertical engine louvers, the rain gutter that only goes 3/4 the way down the roof line, the raised area around the headlights, the stand-up spare tire, the front door hinges are below the beltline, and you can barely make out the external fuel filler in the engine compartment picture.

i can't believe that people still post baywindows even after being told not to as well as being told to get into the hearse. a quote from the rules... "Please submit only pix of split-window buses. There are other sites for hosting other VW pix." i love this site, but it is getting dirtied up. Thom needs to step in and start deleting posts. this one too if necessary. just stop with the baywindoze please!

Mobile Air Traffic Control Tower used by the Royal Australian Airforce in Darwin, Northern Terriory during the 60's. Originally came with a trailer on which sat an airconditioning unit with ducting going in through the rear of the bus. Was a double door walk through panel. Will be restored in the very near future.
