I picked up a pair of these. stamped w/ Lemerz logo, dated coded 9/65, size 4 1/2J by 15, 'MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY'. I was told they were 356 rims, don't know if thats true. They are more offset that splitty rims.

What are these wheels? What are these wheels?
Thom
I de-tired and sand-blasted 5 wheels today in preparation for painting and installing new tires. It wasn't until I was getting ready to paint them that I noticed that 1 wheel was different. Hmm. Turns out, that wheel appears to be *normal* and the other 4 are different. The have more negative offset than the others. All 5 are marked 4 1/2K Even more interesting is the fact that they were a yellowish-orange underneath some generic rattle-can black. They also have a very pronounced KPZ (KronPrinz) logo. I got these in the big Rio Linda junkyard sale.

This is an original early type 2 (pre 1967) childs cot. I don't know too much about color options but every one I have seen is army green. Does anyone know if there were any other colors available and in what year did this front seat- hanging style cot appear in the Westfalia?

03/19/07 G.T.58 My first bus was a 63, same color blue and It had this same canvas OD sling over the front seat. That rear seat/bed bracket seen in this picture is also same at the WF kit that I had in a 63.
12/22/02 michael generally this style ofcot showed up with so-43's in green army stlyed canvas. it lookslike you have a so-33 kit which if mem serves could be ordered on any model kombi (so-33 was designed toretrofit kombis and was designed to be easily removed so hat kombi could serve two functions). Mebbe someone simply cut down a beige piece of pay window canbas. The "cot" idea originated with so-23 but back then it incorperated the use of the backrest as the base of the cot not a sep. piece of canvas.
12/19/02 Jeff Thanks for the info Sean. The bus pictured is a May 1964 SO-33 factory fitted Westfalia model.
12/18/02 Sean They all came in that armr freena I think they came with a cover to keep them from scratching the wood interior. I believe they came out in the "SO" camper series (42,44). That would be 1964 models thru 1967 models. Earlier models had a different type of front sleeping arrangement that usually involved the front seat being used as part of the bed.

12/05/05 Richard Hello Thom,
I just saw your picture re the cot. I was unaware that a cot was avail. in the front. Is it possible to see how it hooks to the camper? I have 4 holes (2 on either side in the front as well as behind the seats) on my `68 camper but was wondering if there are special hooks required that fit into these holes.

"Restored" backing plates. I soaked them in CLR for 3 days to remove all of the rust, then rinsed and painted them. Pretty!

12/13/02 Thom CLR = "Calcium Lime & Rust" remover - that's the brand name of the product, found in the cleaning products aisle of your local h/w store or supermarket.
12/12/02 Dirk Thom, I'm courious as to what CLR is, I've not heard of it.

This is the original transmission from my 1960 panel. It had been rebuilt by the previous owner, but I replaced it because of a funny noise, which turned out to be a loose engine fan. Several people committed to buying it, but they all backed out. Too late now.

my westy was squealing, pulling and grabbing for some new brakes up front. NOS riveted brake linings and NOS wheel cylinders did the trick just fine.
