| 10/03/02 | Hey, look at that, someone took out all of the globs and runs in that nice dove blue paint that used to be on it. Globs and all, I still liked the blue much better! | |

| 08/10/02 | Lee Schelin | We are just starting to look for a 65-66 V Front Van. Previously owned a 68 and a 86 Vanagon and starting to feel like we need another van in the family. Thom, could you eMail me and let me know what I should expect to pay for a Van like the 55 you owned?
Thanks Lee... |
| 07/16/02 | Chris | Who were the people that bought it though? Were they really from Japan? Why did they buy it it seems in the photos like it is in some sort of museum or something... whats the story?? |
| 07/16/02 | SeanD | I seem to remember Thom driving it, he even had pics posted! You never know what someone is going to do with "THEIR" bus after they buy it. I would have kept it the way Thom had it, as it was the way it was supposed to be or at least pretty close.
It's easy to critizize from within the anonomity of the internet. With all of the crap that he has gone through with Bus restorations it's a wonder some of the "gurus" didn't step up and buy the bus. Where were they? Thom, I'll trade you the trailer for a box of chain wallets, temp whitewalls, sailor-mouthed girlfriend and my crappy lowered (*the wrong way, of course)28 window deluxe.(It's so rusty and full of rot that the missing metal actually counts collectively, as 5 to 7 more windows!) *note: There is no "correct" way to lower a bus, period! |
| 07/16/02 | daily driver | money talks, i guess. if you couldnt be bothered to drive it, perhaps someday someone will get hold of it and enjoy it as it should be... ON THE ROAD! |
| 07/16/02 | Thom | I'd made the decision to sell it because I had the '54 home again, and really needed to spend the time and money on the barndoor.
Nobody stateside wanted the westy; I'd listed it on all of the various VW sites, ebay, etc - no serious bites. I got a lot of slackers who wanted to lowball me or trade for various POS cars, but no serious buyers. I took it to the Sac Bug-O-Rama where it sat for all of an hour before a couple of guys approached me with Cold Hard Cash and no sob stories about how they wanted to trade me their 68 squareback, a pit bull puppy and make payments on the balance. |
| 07/15/02 | Why you guys complaing, you didnt care about the buses, only the money. | |
| 07/15/02 | Chris | What is the actual post-Thom history of this bus? I remember following it closely during its restoration and I remember when it was put up for sale but I havn't heard anything else. |
| 07/15/02 | wiedenbruck weeps | Hey Thom! What you expect, you sold it to the japs! They mutilate and rape everything! I sold them an original `60 westfalia and they turned it into a pre `58 looking westy??? Did the same damn stupid mods. what a shame, ther is no accounting for taste. Oh well you westy was not all correct anhow...`60 campbox interior was not the correct `55 style anyways. |
| 07/15/02 | Thom | What were they thinking when they added that fuel guage? |

| 07/15/02 | Thom | Looks like they threw out the *correct* taillights for which I'd searched all over hell and back! |
