I bought it last summer at MOFOCO's Bugfest and drove it home. Runs better than it looks. I will eventually restore it but the 66 Deluxe is next in line. For now I will camouflage it and drive it for 2-3 years.

Bought it from a farmer for $1900 cdn. Pressed bumpers, bubble tail lights and reflectors, brakelight decklid (all working), canadian VW badge, and original interior and paint. Nice to know there are still good finds! With so little rust I think I'll drive it for a long while like this.

06/20/03 Jason Toner Actually, funny you mention camper stuff! I bought a 60 Westfalia 2 years bfore this truck with all the camper interior the year before for $400 canadian. Parted out the bus but still have the interior. (icebox, cabinet, etc.)

this is the proper way to lower a bus. this thing is dumped. why buy all that expensive lowering crap when you can just load it with a ton and a half of parts. my '58 kombi model storage unit has 10 trannies, at least 5 front beams, 3 engines as well as various other heavy metal parts and don't forget the two ghia pans on the roof. and people think that I am not into lowered buses.......

No this is not a rare find of some dead bus sitting for years (although it did have a dead battery). It's my 56 after the winter and spring rains.

The alternator on my 911 died a couple days before the first auto-x of the season. I didn't have enough time to source a new one and install it, so I took the bus as a "mobile charging station" and hooked up a set of jumper cables and charged the 911 battery between sessions. The tent made for some nice shade later in the afternoon, too! More AutoCross pix
