| 10/10/02 | Walter | Anyone ever put zip ties around there beans and weiner? |
| 10/07/02 | busper | Yeah Mike, I can agree with all the hoop-la (zip-ties, fish tank hose) riggings on that motor in the picture, but you know mechanics *usually* have some pretty wierd looking motors on their own ride 'cause they have other peoples cars and motors to work on and don't have the time or the "desire" to put on correct parts because Lloyd knows what will work and gets by with it on his own ride. But when it comes to anothers car or motor I'll bet he does a nice job on it and keeps all the original correct functioning parts on it if they were present before the rebuild. Really that motor looks good, and clean, and I would trust him to do a rebuild, especially if he has the guts to post up here on vintagebus cause someone surely would say if they had good or bad dealings with him, and obviously no-one has posted a true complaint about one of his rebuilt motors that they have or own or drive. Of course I would not jump into having him rebuild my motor right away, I would have some questions beforehand or want to see a motor that he has done in the past that has some mileage on it, but either way, if the person doing the work knows what he is doing, then it is well worth having them rebuild or work on it, no matter what the cost is. |
| 10/07/02 | Mike's Boss | Which one of your three "correct" carburators did you drive into work with today...or did the beers do you in again? |
| 10/07/02 | truckersmike | I don't care if that engine runs like buttah, I would not want my engine look like that. He can keep the radiator hose, dryer hose, zip ties, duct tape and fish tank hose for himself and I will continue to use the correct parts. |
| 10/07/02 | busper | The hose *could* head for the air filter Jules, but if you remember, some of the oil fillers/breathers have the metal tube that goes down past the oil dipstick and to the bottomside of the motor feeding the fumes to the outside/road then it does not make a difference, heck, my bus has it capped off going to the air cleaner and then the metal tube going to the outside/bottom of the bus. As long as it can breathe it does not matter where it goes simply put. (although I am sure there are some nazi's out there that will disagree) |
| 10/05/02 | Jules | I used Zip ties to put my heater pipe jackets back on underbneath. not original but they do not rust to shit at least.
hate to pick?? but surely that pipe off the oil filler (Case vent fumes) should be heading for the air filter not the road??? |
| 10/05/02 | Chris | First you idiots bash the guy for wearing a greasy shirt which was pathedic enough and then you bash his engine based on one photo? When you work on cars you get greasy. If you own a Volkswagen and don't own at least one shirt that looks like that then you obviously don't do any work yourself. Also, a couple people have attacked this guys engine but you have only seen one photo of it and you havn't actually listed any of the errors that were made. Using zip ties is not an error. |
| 10/03/02 | buspers mom | I guess if I were stuck in the middle of no where, I'd let Lloyd help get me home. But then I replace the Dryer Vent hose, radiator hose, duct tape, zip ties, multi sized washer hose.................and do it right.
I mean if he carries enough stuff to look like he knows what he's doing, then how about some good replacement parts. |
| 10/03/02 | busper | I see nothing wrong with the motor, although I see a problem with you...YOUR ATTITUDE!! it sucks. Go home and play in your room, your are grounded. |
| 10/03/02 | busper | HUH?? everything looks good to me in there.....except someone got zip-tie crazy..... |

| 12/26/02 | bussmuggler | You can polish a turd...but you can only get that shit so shiny. |
| 09/23/02 | I like the duct tape on the Gen. wiring and the electrical tape on all the fuel line clamp area's, and the license light, wonder if the main seal is super-glued in? | |
| 09/23/02 | truckersmike | I would NOT have this guy build my engine. The air intake looks like a radiator hose attached to a dryer tube. And what's up with the fish tank hose being used as an oil breather? It's supposed to connect to the oil bath, not to be shoved through the preheater hole. Damn dude! are you for real?
I wander what would happen if you cut all those zip ties? |
| 09/22/02 | Seen motors you could eat your dinner off. i would not serve the dogs on this | |
| 09/22/02 | Wally Weaver | Clean just means that theres no dirt or oil everywhere, Who says ya cant polish a turd |
| 09/21/02 | Rob Van Dam | Sid, if this is your idea of a clean engine. |

| 08/23/03 | peach | Hey guys -
Take it easy on this dude... ... he's just doing his thing and his rat bus rocks!!! |
| 10/03/02 | busper | I'll bet you guys wonder what other people say about you too in your life. Sounds like you are a little insecure, go see a shrink. Lloyd, image is nothing, thirst is everything, obey your thirst and keep doing the good work on the 'ol volksie motors...looks like you do good, clean work and thats what matters! |
| 09/25/02 | \m/ \m/ | i can see him driving a joe dirt style jacked up chevy with cragers |
| 09/22/02 | Wally Weaver | I can't picture him driving a chevy |
| 09/21/02 | very patriotic?? in a foreign vehicle! | |
| 09/21/02 | Rob Van Dam | No wonder people think VW folks are freaks! |

| 09/29/02 | greg | I'd say that it was a 1966/67 bus because of the vent layout, as the 1965 model had full length louvres that were more prone to bending damage |
| 09/29/02 | greg | By the vent layout I'd say it was a 66/67 model as the 65 models had full length vents that were more prone to being bent. |
